Builders have fluted columns since ancient Greece. The Doric takes its name, and its lines, from them. Its flutes follow a line thousands of years old, through columns, chariot wheels and now skyscrapers: each carries weight and holds the eye.
Classical sculpture guided the proportion of handle to bell. We studied hands and wrists to shape the grip for a wider range of hand sizes, with biomechanics in mind, for a more comfortable hold. Every bell has the same grip, because your hand doesn’t grow with the weight.
